Buddy Rich and Ed Shaughnessy Play Drums on "The Tonight Show Starring J...

This is truly incredible!

The David Barajas Case

What makes this case so interesting is that some tragic things happened with only one witness and too many questions to answer.

The facts:

  • David tragically lost his two children in a traffic collision.
  • The driver of the car was seriously speeding.
My questions:
  • If you lived that close to your house, why push the truck up an unprotected roadway. What if someone had a stroke and hit the kids? Would they deserve to be executed on the spot, even if they were speeding?
  • How did David know he was drunk? Or was that only found out later? If he did know, would he have made a different choice?
  • Was anyone else home at the time? How did he get rid of the gun and ammunition? I assume they searched his house.
To me, all of these things supported the verdict. It really sounds like this was a horribly mis-prosecuted case. Perhaps I do not know all of the evidence available. We may never know, but the guy is dead, and that is justice for David whether he did it or not. That being said, legal action from the Barajas family would make me doubt his innocence. Money will not bring those children back.

The United States vs. Canada

This is something that has had me wondering for some time. I have seen animosity between Canada and the US and I just don't understand it. Maybe if you are on a bordering town, I may understand better, but I don't think it's about personal issues among patriots. Our common stereotype, I think, about Canada is they speak differently and speak French.

Regarding the accent, I would have to say that I can clearly understand the Canadian accent than the New Orleans accent. That just doesn't make any sense to me. Clearly there is more to it than the accent if you have to make a big deal out of it.

The whole French thing... who cares? And if you do, WHY do you care. These people are no more French or Irish or African or Chinese than you are. It happens to be that a long time ago, it was the most convenient language for people to speak, so they used it, like we use English. And we succeeded from them. We are all relatives of ex-pats. Unless you are Native American, in which case, I'm so sorry our ancestors were such assholes. I think Natives should be able to save and re-acquire land. But that's another story.

For my Canadian brothers, North America is a solid unit. You know neither of us would let anything happen to each other. We have some "issues" that you guys don't, but we're here for you if you need us. And I hope you are there for us too. I know the whole "Americans" thing is not interpreted by all the same way, when I say "Americans", I think all North America (sorry MA and SA).

I don't get the stupidity. North America runs the world, no matter what anyone wants to think. And we do it with our pals Canada. Our National Anthem is SO much better than yours. Just sayin'. Cheers.
